Broadband Networks

Often, gaining last mile fiber connection to major broadband hubs can be time consuming and quite expensive. By moving the last mile connection point for our major 100-Gbps networks in Canada to our community edge we can help to open up the dream of true broadband service for underserved communities in Canada. Working with the U of A, we will be able to connect fiber networks to allow access to the best Universities, Medical facilities, and world class medical professionals world wide.

Access for all seniors Canada wide to use the (CHHN) "Canadian Health at Home Network" while also providing lower cost last mile broadband connections for northern indigenous people and others to access post secondary and K-12, learning opportunities.

Open Source

CIRA requires that outputs produced through projects funded by the Community Investment Program be open and available for anyone to use, share and build upon. Please indicate if you are able to meet this requirement if your project is selected for funding.

Yes, should we receive CIRA funding, vault design concept documents and descriptions of the overall concept will be available from a link on our Bridge297.ca website.

Service providers will find it easier to connect to fiber coop clients reducing overall disruption. Last mile fiber connections will be democratized removing cost for advanced services and allowing new service at lower cost. I expect most smart city groups will consider this as a best in class new approach.
